Busy Week, I'm exhausted

I thought we'd get a chance to chill out a bit after company left, but nope, we are busier than ever.  Sunday was the neighborhood Spring picnic and dinner with the in-laws and my Women's Group Meeting.  The picnic was fun and guess what???  I won a grand prize from the local pool supply house, Pinch A Penny; a fountain with lights all powered by the water of the outflow from the pump.  It's really cool and I'm so happy.  After the picnic, we went out for dinner at a German restaurant, Sandra's, on the beach.  The one my step-Mom-in-Law likes is closing so we wanted to find a new one, and we did.  She really likes Sauerbraten and they have it on the menu all the time, not just Sundays.  So. life is good.

Tuesday was our grand-daughter's 4th birthday.  We went to our daughter and son's house to have cake, and boy what a cake!  It had mountains, trees, dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs - a 4 year old's dream.  It was a blast seeing her face as we sang and she blew out the candles.  Our little Bean, so grown up.

Wednesday I went to hear H.E. Garchen Rinpoche speak in Wesley Chapel.  It was an interesting experience listening to a translated teaching.  It was a long day but so worth it.

Thursday a friend from PA came to visit.  We spent the day doing St Petersburg downtown, the Chihuly museum and out to dinner at Billy's Stone Crab.

Friday, TDH and I went to Hollywood Studios for dinner at Hollywood and Vine.  And what do we find on the drinks menu but a Red Stag Lemonade!  Of course, I had to have it - thinking of you, Mom.  We got home late and Saturday morning, back on the road to Disney Village with our Daughter, Son-in-law, the Bean and the Duke (see, Mom, it's just not as cute) for lunch at the T-Rex Cafe.  It was the Bean's request and she was beaming and dancing the whole time.  She took her Mom on a tour pointing out all the fossils and 'live' dinosaurs and telling her it's okay, they are not really real.  The meteor shower was a bit much, but everyone agreed it was a great way to celebrate.  Afterwards, we went into the Lego store where they have Legos in buckets in the center of a table and everyone gets to play.  And, we all did.

Today is the Block Picnic in a little bit.  Looking forward to relaxing and visiting.

I made some dragonfly pendants for my sister-in-law to choose from and a bracelet, but I'm having issues with the uploader.  Sorry, I'll try to get it caught up tomorrow.

Update 4-29-2013

I received a request from my sister-in-law for a dragonfly pendant, so I made a few and let her choose which one spoke to her.  These are it:
Do you know which one she chose?

I also made a little bracelet that has loops and swirls.  I really like it.

So, folks that's it for this week.  I hope that there is nicer weather where you are and that you can enjoy it.  Be well.

Just another week in Paradise....

Well folks, Mom left to go home on Tuesday.  This visit was way too short but she did promise that she'll stay longer next time she comes.  Before she left, we had a great dinner with the family at The Pub and celebrated Christmas at their home.  Daughter went in before us and we found that she had pulled out her felt Christmas tree and decorations.  Her and the Bean had on Christmas hats and sang as we entered.  GG (Mom) was recruited by the Bean to help decorate the tree.  It was a great night with lots of laughter.

TDH and I finally found an entertainment center we can be happy with in our family room.  It's ordered and will be available in about 3 weeks.  We also found a set of nesting tables for between the chairs in the living room.  They are plain and complement the end tables.  But much more importantly, they are absolutely perfect for cave building when the Bean comes over!

My jewelry efforts have been all over the place this week.  I found a picture of a wire wrapped glass pebble (the kind you put in the bottom of vases) that looked pretty interesting, it is called 'vessel of starlight' (left) by silverowlcreations.  Mine didn't quite turn out quite the way the picture did, (my wire gauge is a bit larger than the one they used) but I think are pretty.

I tried something different with the Danish Knots and put blue and silver together.  I'm not sure how I like it, but combined with the solid blue on a choker, it looks nice.

Thinking of my friends who do yoga and meditation, I made this cute lotus.

Living by the water, it's very easy to let your mind go wandering. I found this mermaid by
Karismabykarajewelry

I had to try.  This is the result.  I added treasures from the sea; a shell I collected in St Pete Beach and coral from St Kitts (a destination on our cruise in January).  I'm so pleased with her,she looks like she just came out of the sea with hair flowing and tail glistening.

I've ordered and received business cards with my blog and email address on them.  Now, anytime folks notice my jewelry, I give them a card so they can see more of it.  Mom was the one who suggested it.  She said she wears hers a lot and always gets comments.

If you'd like a piece, please email me at mydayjobdesign@gmail.com and let me know.

The weather is changing, it is staying lighter longer, time to shake off the winter blues.  Be well.

A really hectic week, but, also a creative one.

Hello all.  Dinner on Saturday night went really well.  My Father-in-Law, his wife, Mom, TDH and I had a wonderful Prime Rib roast with potatoes, mashed carrots and applesauce and ice cream for dessert.  Yum.  It's the first time I've made Prime Rib in ages.  I was nervous but everyone said it was good. Sunday, our niece, her fiance, our daughter, her husband, Bean and Bubba all came for lunch.  We ate outside and talked and laughed and had a grand time.  The kids went home for a nap while our niece, her fiance, Mom, TDH and I went for a boat ride.  We saw dolphins!  It was great.  We went to the beach, watched the sunset and toasted family.  Monday, our niece, her fiance, our daughter, Mom and I wandered around on Beach Dr. to all the interesting shops and the wonderful park and view of the Pier.  Tuesday, the gang went Thrift Shopping.  Our niece and her fiance then headed South to the Keys for a week.  Wednesday, Mom, TDH and I went to dinner at my Father-in-law and wife's apartment.  Very good.  Today, our friend came over with her grandchildren to fish off the dock.  They didn't catch anything but learned how to cast pretty well.  So, as you can see, lots to do and lots that got done.

Now, for the bracelets I was working on last week.  I'm so excited to have this one done, it was a lot of work and took a while to get the method right.  You can see where I started and the difference at the end.  I saw this bracelet on Pinterest and found a tutorial on YouTube.  I'd do a link or two a night until I finally did the ending hook tonight.  YAY!  It's called an Egyptian Coil.

This was the other one I was working on last week.  I made it twice, one in blue and one in brown because   I really like the way it turned out.  Simple, elegant yet strong.

And because I had so much free time and because my Mom likes owls as much as I do, I made the following necklace after seeing one online.  The online version was on a real wood branch though.  I decided to make one out of wire.

Keeping with the animal theme, I made this bunny for my grandson - it was supposed to be for Easter but I didn't get it done in time.  Go figure.
And, last animal, I promise (well, for this week anyway).  For all the cat lovers.
Thanks for checking in... be well.

Mom Is Here! I'm so excited.

Mom arrived Tuesday afternoon and is here for 2 weeks.  I am so excited that she is here.  It's been dreary weather up in the Frozen North and she needs the sun, so down she came to our Tropical Climes.  Yahoo!  2 weeks is way too short but I'll take what I can get.  Wednesday was kind of a relax day and my daughter, Bean and Bubba (alias The Duke) came for dinner.  Thursday, Mom and I spent the day with the Bean and Bubba, out to breakfast and then visiting and helping my daughter with some things around the house.  TDH and I went back to our daughter's to watch the kids as they slept so she could go to the airport and pick up her husband from a business trip.  Of course, with the weather, there were delays, but he arrived safely home and everyone is happy.  Today, Daughter and I took Mom out for a personal shopping experience.  Daughter made the appointment at Nordstrom's and we had a wonderful time.  She tried on many clothes, but unfortunately, couldn't find any that tickled her fancy.  But afterwards, she wanted to shoe shop, and ended up buying a beautiful pair of Topsiders in gold.  We are having company for dinner tomorrow and looking forward to seeing our niece and her fiance who arrive late tonight.  After a week of rest, it's time for company and events to fill the calendar again!

I had a commission from a friend to make a cross for her to present to her teacher.  I wasn't sure what style she'd like so I made 2.  One is sort of traditional and the other is a bit more futuristic.  Which one do you like?

I had started this cowrie shell a few weeks ago and finally finished it.  I like it a lot but do feel on the next one, I'll weave a bit tighter between the coils.

I saw this goddess on Pinterest last week and had to make it.  I think she turned out really nice but when my daughter saw it, she thought it was a dog's face.  Oh well, what are you going to do?

This one is another one that I tried just to see if I could do it.  Turns out that I could!

This next one is kind of hard to see, but it's a bracelet with just a bar between 2 end loops.  It's really an elegant simple design and if a person wanted, they could add charms to the bars.

Well, that's it for this week.  I kept myself busy and guess what?  I have 2 other bracelets that I am working on and can't wait to share with you.

Be well and stay warm.  See you next time.
